Schedule

Two days. Two matches. One neighborhood.

Overview

All events are free  and open to the public at the square at U District Station (4301 Brooklyn Ave NE). No tickets or registration are required to attend. Schedule is subject to change; check back for updates.

Both match screenings appear on our giant outdoor LED screen, bright enough for full daylight viewing. Screen coverage begins ahead of each listed time, so come early, claim a spot, and settle in. Low-back chairs and blankets are welcome.

Saturday, July 18

Morning - Play

Nearby - U District Farmers Market, 9am to 2pm. Seattle's beloved year-round market runs every Saturday on University Way NE, minutes from the square. Grab breakfast and flowers on your way over. (The market is an independent neighborhood event, and a great one.)

10am - Youth Soccer Zone opens, family activities begin. Drop-in play and skills challenges, ages 8 to 12, Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Afternoon - Third Place Match

2pm - Third-place match of the World Cup™ on the big screen. Two national teams, one last chance at the podium. Coverage begins on screen ahead of kickoff. Bring a chair or blanket and cheer with your neighbors.

Evening - Music and a Movie

4pm* - Music from Farplane, a four-piece band that began life as an offshoot of Seattle's premier Halloween band.

5pm* - Music from Leo Leo, a 6-piece pop/funk band based in Seattle. Featuring soulful 3-part vocals and paired with a punchy rhythm section. They draw on funk, soul, and latin influences to keep the party going.

7pm* - Outdoor movie: Shaolin Soccer (2001). Winner of our audience vote. Stephen Chow's high-flying martial-arts soccer comedy, shown on our daylight-friendly LED screen so the fun starts before sunset. Runtime approximately 1 hour 52 minutes. Rated PG-13.

10pm* - Saturday events conclude. See you tomorrow for the championship final.

* These times are dependent on the finish of the soccer match. Some flexibility is requested.

Sunday, July 19

10am - The UW Husky Alumni Marching Band begins the day's events with high-energy music.

Midday - The Championship Final Match

12pm - Championship final match on the big screen. The biggest match in world soccer, live in the square. Coverage begins ahead of kickoff. Arrive early: this is the one everyone comes for. Entry is first come, first served if the square reaches capacity.

Afternoon - Live Music

3pm* - Craetorus, a four-piece psych dream in one band forming in 2022 from Kitsap County. Featuring Darla Rae (they/she) and friends Jon Garber (he/him) on bass, Lychen Gipaya (he/they) on drums and Ryan Anthony Brooks (he/him) on lead guitar.

5pm* - Steven Wang Band, a five-piece band bridges cinematic R&B, jazz-influenced pop, and harmony-driven soundscapes.
