This summer, the FIFA World Cup™ comes to Seattle, and the U District is throwing a party. On July 18-19, the square at U District Station fills with watch parties, music, family activities, and an outdoor movie. At the heart of the weekend: a youth soccer zone where kids from across northeast Seattle play the world's game together, right where the world is watching.
Open to youth players middle school age and younger, all skill levels welcome, whether it is a first time with a ball or an everyday player.
No registration, no teams, no schedule. Kids just show up and play on the turf with soft, weighted balls and goals set up for them. And a fun bonus: free t-shirts for young players while supplies last, so early arrivals get to take one home.
This crowd is global. This spirit is local. Come be part of it.

Register as a Referee
Are you a high schooler who knows soccer and likes being around little kids having fun? We are looking for friendly teen referees to help run our free Youth Soccer Zone during the World Cup weekend at the square at U District Station, July 18–19.
- Stipend provided: Receive a stipend ($43/shift) to thank you for your time.
- Short shifts: Sign up for a 2-hour shift, or grab two if you want to do more.
- Easy and fun: This is casual, free-form play for younger kids, not high-stakes matches. You keep games friendly, safe, and moving.
- No experience needed: If you have played soccer and are good with kids, you are qualified. We will show you the rest.
- Looks great on a resume or college app: Real community service with a stipend to match.
Bring your energy and your whistle-ready attitude, and we will handle the rest. This crowd is global, this spirit is local, and we would love your help making it a great weekend for U District kids.
